Julie's Request

Julie Baker sent me an email saying how much she enjoyed the cardinal picture. I know that photo is a little small so I am cropping it a little tighter and posting it on this side so its a bit larger. Thanks Julie for your comments to the blog and email.

Happy Memorial Day

It was a very warm day here...temps reaching 80 degrees and fairly humid. It was suppose to storm today but actually we have been lucky and so far the rain has held off. Jim, Misha and I took a walk down by the docks. Sheraton has completed their newest edition completing Erie's newest hotel and at the prettiest location. Rooms start at $190. Here are a few pics of todays walk.

Lets Party

Today Jim and I went to Edinboro to celebrate with Kara, Mike and Vanessa. So nice to see them in such a celebratory mood. Mike and Vanessa graduated today, Kara with just a few more credits will finish up this summer. You could sense how happy they all were and how proud they and their families are of this big accomplishment. Michael graduated with an Art degree and a Teaching Cert. and already accepted a teaching position in South Carolina. Vanessa will be going to Pitt for graduate school in the Fall. Kara will also be moving to South Carolina in the fall. Another beautiful spot for me Jim and me to visit. :)

It was a great party and we got the chance to meet Mike's Mom, MaryAnn and Step Father, Rick. They are so nice I just wish we had more time to hang with them. We also got to meet Kara's other room mate Vanessa's parents. For college life I must say Kara has made many wonderful friends and room mates. I wish I had taken a picture of Kara's roomies all together but that is a shot I missed. They all were the perfect hostesses and hosts I must add making sure we had plenty of food, drink, and introductions. It was a really nice day to share in their excitment. Kara asked me to make my special pretzel and cherry dessert. I think within 15 minutes of putting that on the food table it was gone. Its always a favorite. Really all the food was terrific.

Tale of the PT Cruiser

Kara had a big day today. She is now the proud owner of Jim's PT. Kara is almost done, a couple summer classes away from graduating from Edinboro University. She will soon be living in the real world needing a job etc. and of course needed a car. What do you do for a kid with major school loans living on a part time minimal wage job. Well Jim made a most generous offer and sold (almost gave) the car to her and bought himself a new Subaru Forester.

This leads me to todays Tale of the PT Cruiser..........

Those that know me know my love for cars. I was struck by the car cupids when I saw my first PT hitting our Erie streets. The style-grace- smooth lines and so retro too. I could spot a PT coming from blocks away. I had just started a new job at STERIS when PT's had been released. I can remember when a buzz was flying around our engineering floor. Someone had a new PT in the parking lot. Then to hear that this engineer who was very single, worked on the same floor as me was the proud owner. I knew this guy must be pretty special. A little later I also found out that he has a 1955 TF 1500, MG. Oh my gosh to good to be true. So of course we began dating. My dad would ask what I was doing Friday night and I would say I was going out and his next reply would always be "with PT". So Jim began to be known as Mr. PT to my family. Of course now he is my husband.

So this morning while we were gathering the cars title and owners manual and even a model PT I had a tear in my eye for losing such a piece of what brought Jim and me together. I wasn't the only one with a tear in their eye.

Ok so he is acting a bit. At least we did see one awfully happy face.

So we wish Kara best of luck with her new car.

I have to sign off for Mr. Forester and I have a date tonight.

Signs of Spring

This is a picture that I took outside last weekend. A robins nest with eggs is a sure sign of Spring. In this shot I was practicing with my depth of field while doing a close up.

The Awakening of Jackie's Shot

Well this is my first post. Actually I am jumping into this without any knowledge or even experience of what bloggers generally share. I know its a popular way of sharing stories and I am an avid story teller so this may be a great medium for me to work in. Actually my goal for this blog is twofold. First, I think it will be a neat way for our family to share stories and photos since we are spread all over the country and Second, a more selfish reason. I want to improve my photography. My goal is to post a new picture at least once a week.

So.... Welcome friends to my blog. Visit often for a laugh or to share a picture.
