Kara had a big day today. She is now the proud owner of Jim's PT. Kara is almost done, a couple summer classes away from graduating from Edinboro University. She will soon be living in the real world needing a job etc. and of course needed a car. What do you do for a kid with major school loans living on a part time minimal wage job. Well Jim made a most generous offer and sold (almost gave) the car to her and bought himself a new Subaru Forester.
This leads me to todays Tale of the PT Cruiser..........
Those that know me know my love for cars. I was struck by the car cupids when I saw my first PT hitting our Erie streets. The style-grace- smooth lines and so retro too. I could spot a PT coming from blocks away. I had just started a new job at STERIS when PT's had been released. I can remember when a buzz was flying around our engineering floor. Someone had a new PT in the parking lot. Then to hear that this engineer who was very single, worked on the same floor as me was the proud owner. I knew this guy must be pretty special. A little later I also found out that he has a 1955 TF 1500, MG. Oh my gosh to good to be true. So of course we began dating. My dad would ask what I was doing Friday night and I would say I was going out and his next reply would always be "with PT". So Jim began to be known as Mr. PT to my family. Of course now he is my husband.
So this morning while we were gathering the cars title and owners manual and even a model PT I had a tear in my eye for losing such a piece of what brought Jim and me together. I wasn't the only one with a tear in their eye.
Ok so he is acting a bit. At least we did see one awfully happy face.
So we wish Kara best of luck with her new car.
I have to sign off for Mr. Forester and I have a date tonight.
